On the Future and Development of Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling: Gratitude to Dr. Fu Zhonghua and Dr. Chen Pingqing for Their Support and Contributions

Since its establishment on National Day three years ago, the Fus Subcutaneous Needling Association New York has greatly benefited from the tireless efforts of Dr. Fu Zhonghua, the inventor of Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling. Dr. Fu has made multiple trips from China to New York to conduct small-scale clinical classes on Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling, yielding fruitful results. We sincerely thank Dr. Fu for his strong support and contributions to our association!

Over the past three years, Dr. Fu has introduced new theories and innovations, such as the Fu Zhen Qi and Blood Theory. Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling continues to evolve and advance, shining like the rising sun in the field of acupuncture and benefiting humanity worldwide.

However, a year and a half after the establishment of the association, the outbreak of the pandemic in New York and across the United States significantly impacted the development of Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling. Under the leadership of Dr. Chen Pingqing, a renowned acupuncturist and inheritor of several acupuncture masters, the New York Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling community has continued to strive in the field. Thanks to the trust of Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling’s inventor Dr. Fu Zhonghua and the recommendation of the founding president Dr. Chen Pingqing, Dr. Cai Bin was appointed as the second president of the Fus Subcutaneous Needling Association New York on October 1, 2021. We are grateful to all the members of the association and to fellow acupuncturists who support Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling, especially those who have continued to work on the front lines during the pandemic. We hope that all Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling enthusiasts will continue to support the cause.

The Fus Subcutaneous Needling Association New York serves as a platform for learning, communication, and improvement in Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling. It facilitates the exchange of information and experience among members, whether it be clinical techniques or business practices, which is far superior to individual exploration. As the pandemic situation becomes more stable, we plan to offer various forms of online and offline Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling training and education. We will focus on understanding the new theories of Qi and Blood in Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling and the implications for muscle and affected areas, which will greatly advance clinical practice. We also aim to offer small-scale clinical classes when appropriate.

Once again, we extend our gratitude to Dr. Fu Zhonghua, the inventor of Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling, and Dr. Chen Pingqing, the founding president. We also appreciate the strong support from the New York State Licensed Acupuncturists Association.

Dr. Cai Bin, a licensed acupuncturist in New York and New Jersey, faculty member at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and a permanent director of the New York State Licensed Acupuncturists Association, is the current president of the Fus Subcutaneous Needling Association New York. He completed his undergraduate studies at Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and earned a master’s degree in orthopedic trauma from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2004. He worked as an orthopedic resident and attending physician at a top-tier hospital in Guangzhou before pursuing a doctoral degree at Southern Medical University in Guangzhou, studying under Academician Zhong Shizhen, a pioneer in clinical anatomy. During his doctoral studies, Dr. Cai completed joint biomedical training at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, City University of New York, and continued his postdoctoral research in the U.S., publishing multiple SCI papers. During his research period, he passed the NCCAOM certification exam and completed a year of clinical acupuncture research at Mount Sinai Hospital.
