With auspicious signs on the horizon, a noble guest is sure to arrive. In this golden autumn of October, the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies 2024 Conference and International Academic Exchange Meeting was successfully held, coinciding with the annual meeting and the 30th anniversary celebration of the British Chinese Medicine Society! Despite the long journey and the exhaustion of work, Master Fu Zhonghua brought us the first lecture in the UK since the pandemic, especially for the dedicated followers of floating acupuncture in the UK. It is well known that Master Fu’s schedule is always packed due to his busy work. However, in gratitude for the warm invitation from his devoted followers in the UK and to honor the support from Teacher Wu, he specifically carved out time to come.
Master Fu came to share his invaluable knowledge with us. Having just come down from the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies conference, he swiftly arrived at the floating acupuncture lecture venue. We, the floating acupuncture members in the UK, were fortunate to see Master Fu again after a long time (the last time was before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019). We had the honor of welcoming Teacher Yuan Suya, who specifically returned from Beijing, as well as the ever-dedicated nearly seventy-year-old Teacher Wang Jiarui, and the lovely director He Hongyang, who has been passionately serving the floating acupuncture community. There were also many young new faces in the floating acupuncture field, which made us feel the infusion of fresh blood into our ranks and gave us a glimpse of the bright future for floating acupuncture. Upon seeing us, Master Fu was equally excited, shaking off the fatigue from his long journey. His enthusiasm during the lecture was infectious, filled with humor and engaging interactions, to the point where everyone lost track of time for tea breaks and meals.
In the second half of the teaching lecture, Professor Sun Jian from Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine lived up to expectations with his rigorous academic approach and meticulous thinking. He led everyone in serious study and practical guidance, demonstrating his thorough understanding of Master Fu Zhonghua’s teachings. His lectures on foundational knowledge and clinical practice were outstanding, leaving a deep impression on everyone.
During this UK tour, Master Fu introduced his recent works, including “Overview of Muscle Studies” and “New Theories on Qi and Blood,” which provided everyone with fresh clinical perspectives. The enthusiasm for learning was palpable, with many participants actively engaging in discussions and asking questions. The atmosphere was lively, and in spontaneous treatments, the immediate effects of floating acupuncture amazed both patients and trainees, allowing them to experience its true charm once again.
Most notably, we observed a seven-year-old patient facing the floating needles with calmness and playful demeanor, which helped ease the fears of newcomers. Before we knew it, the tour came to an end, but everyone lingered, reluctant to leave.
After the event, at the invitation of Director Cai, Master Fu and his team went to her home, where we made dumplings together and continued to exchange ideas, looking forward to the future of floating acupuncture. After the meal, we were fortunate to witness Master Fu personally demonstrating Qi and Blood Exercises, bringing the tour to a satisfying conclusion.
The mountains of the five continents will always stand, and the River Thames will continue to flow. We have plenty of time ahead and look forward to meeting again!

This tour attracted Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners from various regions of the UK. Some were long-time friends who have used floating acupuncture for many years, while others were new friends experiencing it for the first time. They are all prominent figures in the Chinese medicine community in the UK, having arrived early on to make significant contributions to the development and dissemination of Traditional Chinese Medicine overseas.
